Oil Output in US Shale Regions Declines

The EIA's monthly Drilling Productivity Report says crude-oil production this month likely falls to 8.7M bpd from a month-ago April estimate of 9.1M. It also says May oil output is likely to fall even further, to 8.5M bpd. These declines after years of strong, steady growth suggest low oil prices are forcing US producers to shut-in wells.
