Halliburton Reported a First-Quarter Net Loss of $1 billion

Halliburton, the world's second-largest oil-field services company and largest supplier of U.S. oil-equipment, on Monday reported a first-quarter net loss of $1 billion, or $1.16 a share, compared with net income of $152 million, or 17 cents a share, in the same period last year. Revenue dropped to $5 billion from $5.7 billion.

Its earnings per share, adjusted to exclude impairments and other charges, of 31 cents for the quarter beat analysts' expectations of 25 cents a share, according to FactSet.
