PTT PCL Swung to Loss in 1Q on Lower Oil Prices
PTT PCL swung to a loss in the first quarter largely due to lower oil prices that caused steep stock losses and a drop in revenue at the company's petrochemical and refining businesses.
The Thai state-owned oil-and-gas company booked a net loss of 1.55 billion baht ($48.1 million), down from a net profit of THB29.31 billion in the same period a year earlier, it said Monday. The company attributed the fall to lower oil prices and oversupply, as well as lower demand caused by global shutdowns amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Revenue fell 12.2% to THB483.57 billion as most business groups saw lower selling prices and sales volume, PTT said.
