Turkey's energy import bill down 65.3% in May 2020
Turkey's energy import bill decrease by 65.3% to $1.27 billion in May this year compared to the same month last year, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Tuesday.
The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $13.39 billion in May, with energy accounting for 9.5% of the overall import figures.
The overall energy import bill was down last month, with a fall in the country's crude oil purchases.
The country's crude oil imports showed a nearly 12.6% drop compared to May 2019.
Turkey imported approximately 2.33 million tons of crude oil last month, down from 2.67 million tons in May 2019.
